You would think that the law of averages would have favoured the 6, but now they're quite rare beasts as the Mk2 is the one that people want. Many 6's have been broken for spares or simply scrapped due to lack of interest, which is a great shame. The 1600cc straight six engine is often scoffed at and passed over for the 2000cc version, but I think that it's a much better engine than the 2ltr. The 1600 engine is far less stressed than the larger engine (therefore more likely to last longer between rebuilds) and because of the shorter stroke, the 1600 revs far more freely. |
